LOVED IT <3, 5/21/2013

India from New River, Arizona

I've used these reins for when I barrel race , jump, whatever. There AWESOME . I ride occasionally some hot horses that tend to throw there head up and down and spook a lot, I can always keep my hands in place with these and these have a better grip than other reins . I suggest this product to anyone. The colors are also awesome :)

Great buy, 5/3/2013

Savannah from Fayetteville, NC

The blue reins match perfectly with the basic polo wraps in blue. It has the snap clips instead of the cheap looking clamps like in the picture, these are better. It is really thin but looks great

Great, 1/20/2013

Mrshorselove77 from Charlotte NC

I love these barrel reins even though i dont barrel race. In face i so Jumpers. I still use these reins. They are awesome if you just want to hop on in a halter or if you dont want to get your show reins dirty i love how you barely have to pull on them and the horse responds and my horse is hard on the bit as well. Overall very happy with this product!

Great!, 9/6/2012

Tonya from Denham Springs, LA

I have a big horse with a long neck and the are NOT too short. I use them for cow penning, pleasure riding or just playing around. The best reins I have ever had. I have had these for about 3 years with NO problems.

Perfect!, 6/3/2012

Charley_grl from charley_grl@hotmail.com

I absolutely love these reigns! They are perfect! The knots are at the perfect lengths. They are very durable! I've had them for about 5 months now, and spend a lot of time holding my horse back, and they don't even show any sign of use. I got the purple, and absolutely love the color. Over all the perfect reigns!

Great Product, but harsh on hands, 1/15/2012

Lawrence from C-Ville, VA

I bought these for Barrel racing, and for me they worked great! But they are very hard on hands, after not even an hour of riding my hands would hurt (and i have tough hands from working with horses for years) but I had my friend ride in them she isn't around horses a lot and they actually CUT her hands! Great practice reins but I had to get softer ones for actual events... Pro- last forever!!

Kaitlyn from muskegon, MI

OK do you not get the point BARREL REIN! barrel reins are supposed to be SHORT so you can easily command your horse? these are not for trail or in the pen they are for BARREL RACING and speed events and if you untie the knots theres no point in using them the knots are for grip not being mean but seriously?

Better for barrel racing, 8/27/2011

Morgan from Keller, TX

These would be fantastic for teaching rider barrel racing, but to have a relaxed hand position, its too short. I love the knots to teach my riders where to hold their reins so they are even, but this makes them so short for my long necked QH

A little too short, 6/10/2011

Kirstin from Maryland

I bought these reins for camp this summer and I thought the lime green color would look good against a black horse. I haven't tried them yet, but they seem short for a draft horse

Okay..., 5/18/2011

A.K. from AZ

These reins have nice grip but no length. I would suggest you go with the cheaper training rein which is basically the same. These reins are also way too short for riding a horse. Pony size :(. Fun colors though.

Good- if you want short, 2/25/2011

Kaitlyn from Bay Area, CA

When I got these reins, I was very pleased with the color and feel of the rope. (And who can beat the price?) But when I rode them with them, they were just so short! I measured them, they really aren't 7 feet, maybe 6 feet and 8 inches or something. For trot work they were fine, even good, since I was able to get a firm feel on my horse's mouth for nose tucking exercises. However, for canter work they were just incredibly insufficient. I suppose if you already have a well trained horse it would be fine, but for my little horse I just needed some extra room. If all you need is something to barely hang onto, it could work for you, but not if you need to really work at the lope. I won't return them, but they will be replaced with something longer for now.

These reins ARE very short, so I wouldn't recommend them for a horse; or even for barrel racing for that matter. BUT, they are just perfect for ponies! If you ride ponies then I think they will be great, they are so cute! (:

Good for the Price, 1/12/2011

VTBarrelRacer from Fairfax, VT

Yes, these reins do stiffen up after a while which brings the level of quality down a bit, but the fact that they are short is an advantage. I have been barrel racing for 14 years now and the length keeps the rider's hands out of the horses mouth while the horse is doing their job. If the rider is confident in their ability and at a higher level in barrel racing experience then I would suggest these reins to them to improve their times by staying out of their partner's mouth.

Samantha from OR

This reins are very short! not worth it. Don't waist your money on these even though they aren't that spendy. Aren't even barrel reins. I put them on my bridle and they didn't even go to my horses withers. They are that short!

Love These, 11/16/2010

bella from Baltimore, MD

I like these reins a lot. I used them for my barrel racing show and I did great. They helped my turn better. I like how they are not to thick. If you think they are to long you can just tie a knot in it. I would recommend if for all the people I ride with.

Not Really Barrel Reins!, 9/5/2010

These reins are great for trail or just goofing off, but they aren't barrel reins they are too thin for that kind of grip and you cant adjust the length of them. Also, they are very stiff even after 6 months.

Abigail from

I got this to use while barrel racing my 15hh mare and she was very displeased. They were very short and she couldn't stretch her neck out to run. The purple matches all my purple tack and the knots really helped. But other than being too short, it was very nice.

Okay, 7/16/2010

stacey from

Just got these. was going to use them with my lime green tack set which is more on the yellowy side. These reins (which I bought in lime green) are not the yellowy lime green they looked like in the pic, they are a bright hot lime green that doesn't have any yellow in it. Stiff, but beware because the knots are not melded together. They're just tied.
