This does work, 11/5/2012

Natural Horse Vet Bug Check from Alvarado, Texas

This is a great product if you can get your horses to eat it. By this fall even the horses that usually ate the Bug Check were picking it out. I did a fecal check on one of our horses after he had been on this product for two months and he checked negative for intestinal worms..must be the DE in the ingredients. Hope the manufacturer will work on a more horse appealing taste!

follow up: it works!, 10/8/2011

emily from galloway, new jersey

i reviewed before that my horses ate it, and now i know it definitely works! we see flies on them, but no stomping, shaking, or swollen lumps! they land, but do not bite. and it may be our imagination but we think we see fewer ticks as well! as for the price, i would pay (almost) anything for the kind of relief we get from bug check.

This is a must try, 5/5/2011

So cal horse gal from Vista, Ca

After using this product for 3 weeks I have noticed a big drop in insect related problems. My bays legs are usually a mess by this time of year and much to our amazement he has very few bites so far... Looks as if we will save enough money on fly spray to pay for "Bug Check". Worth a try.

Bug Check , 4/26/2011

Bug Check from Virginia Beach, Va

I noticed it worked in 2wks. Only bad thing it is so much powder you have to feed. My pony refused to eat it period after 2wks. Wouldn't touch it with sugar or any sweet stuff. So don't buy if you have a picky eater..waste of your money. If you do not have a picky eater perfect!! I did see less flies in stall and on him. So does work, just not too tasty to horses.

3rd Season - Won't go without it!!, 4/5/2011

Zina from Pine Bush, NY

I love this product. This is my third year using it. The best advice I can give it to "stick with it". You won't see immediate results, but long term you will and don't start in the middle of the summer, start in the spring and use until the fall.

Expensive, but it works!, 10/16/2010

6 horse person from central VA

Used together with Flysect citronella spray, this allowed my filly with sweet itch (an allergy to tiny biting no-see-ums) to graze and be in the field 24/7 in good weather without losing her belly hair and ending up raw. She'll eat it readily (it isn't all garlic) and after a miserable year where I sprayed her, fly sheeted her and rubbed Vaseline on her belly to keep her from being raw and itchy in the field, it looked like try this or forget summer turnout. This summer, she didn't even need her fly sheet with belly band. Twice daily fly spray and a once daily scoop of Bug check, and she has all her belly hair and is far more comfortable!

INCREDIBLE, 8/23/2010

marcia from

i started using this product last year and it's effectiveness. i have a black filly that the bugs just LOVE! she would have a strip down her belly at least 4" wide that would be raw. then her chest and face would be next. about august she would loose her mane due to the gnats. this product has been a life saver - for her and me. i no longer have to put her on prednisone every other day in august, and no more expensive creams to cover the sores. i start it in april and will feed it till november. it really works.

it is worth it, 7/19/2010

jenny from

I think this product works. I was not sure at first, when I went to buy it. The fly spray was not working so I gave this product a try. My QH mare was always being ate up; blood on her legs from the flys.Since I have been using this product that is gone. I might use fly spray once, maybe twice a month. I would give this a try. It is worth the cost especaially since the fly spray was 20.00 a bottle too.

Incredible, 6/9/2010

Birgit from

I put both my Geldings on Bug Check about 3 weeks ago. The Arabian was biten up and in hives, that is all gone. He barely has a fly on him now and sure no biting flies at all. Even the gnats leaving him alone now. The Quarter horse still has a few flies on him, but he also has no biting flies around him, very few gnats. At first I thought they would not eat it, but they licked the buckets clean. Honestly for the price it works miracles. I might up the dose on the Quarter horse for a few more weeks and see if that will eliminate his flies also. Overall I am impressed by this product. The price and the results beat the pice I would pay on fly spray who would only work for so long.

palatable, 5/25/2010

emily from

i havent been able to use it consistently enough to comment on its effectiveness, but i can say it is highly palatable. it seems like a lot of additive to use per day, but even my pickiest picker ate it in a small amount of pelleted feed without noticing!

INCREDIBLE!!!!, 4/15/2010

Wanda Mask from

After spending more than $150 per year for fly spray for one horse with short term results, we decided to try Bug Check. This stuff is FANTASTIC. Flies will come near, but rarely land on our horse. Every horse in the barn we are at is on Bug Check, and all having the same results. I wish we had tried this sooner!!!!!

Awsome stuff., 8/6/2009

Gina from Gloucester, VA

This stuff is awsome. I have two geldings who stay out all the time. When tick sesson got here it was awful! I would pick 5-8 ticks a day off of on horse. Now since being on the Bug Check I get might pick one off once a week. It helps with the flies as well but you have to be realistic, it doesn't keep the flies off the horses 100%. Any relief is better then none.

Bug Check works, 7/23/2009

B. Fontes from Chandler, Az

My black mini has gotten eaten alive, literally everysome by flys, even fly spray only worked for a couple hours. His little legs would get raw spots on the insinde of his hocks & the inside of his front legs. This happened for 5 summers in a row. This summer I started feeding Bug Check in May & he has no bug bites at all! His coat is gleaming black too, no sun burn browning on him at all! I live in Arizona, so I thought there was no way this would work, but it does very well!

BUG CHECK IS #1!!, 5/29/2009

Carolyn from Amston, CT

This product is unbelievable. It really works! One of my mares would break out in hives with every bug season since she was a 3 yo. I tried everything from fly sheets & sprays, to acupuncture & Chinese herbals. The farm is kept as immaculate as a farm can be kept including proper manure management & parasite control. I was at wits end until I tried Bug Check. Within 2 days her hives were gone. Within 2 weeks her coat was beautiful. Maybe she was just low on thiamine, which is one of the ingredients, but all I know is that I am keeping her on Bug Check. It really is amazing stuff!
