I have used a lot of different sprays and this one works decently well.I concentrate mine 4:1 and I have a lot of gnats, deer flies, and mosquitoes. You have to get them damp so an adjustable sprayer works the best.Doesnt smell bad either(sometimes I spray myself lol)This even works well for horses with sensitive skin;my medicine cap Paint cross doesnt burn or breakout with this spray. The price is expensive but since its a concentrate it evens it out a little.

Some of the reviews for this product say that it doesn't work well, but it says on the bottle to mix it stronger if they flies are bad! I always mix it up 4 parts water to 1 part concentrate and the flies stay away! I'm not afraid to get this product on my skin either, it's a lot more human friendly than some of the stronger products out there.
Highly recommended!

Also went on previous reviews and mixed as directed. Maybe they don't make it the same anymore, because an hour later, the flies were all over the horses - almost as if they were attracted to them. I even directly sprayed a fly a couple of times, and it just sat there and took it. With other sprays, they would fall off dying with one spray. TERRIBLE PRODUCT, extremely disappointed, and a total waste of money.

I have used this spray for years now and I find it to be one of the best that I have tried. If there is a better spray, I would buy it!

I used this stuff when I was a teenager 30 years ago...remember the red metal tin? I haven't owned horses since I was 18 and the 1st time I used this fly spray again, the smell brought back a flood of memories! Love the smell!
But putting nostalgia aside, this is the best stuff out there. I've purchased and borrowed other products and nothing works as well as Repel-X!! Also, because it can be purchased in concentrated form, I can control it's potentcy based upon how bad the flys and mosquitos are. The concentrate is also the best deal for the money compared to 'ready to spray' formulas.
I never use anything else now!

This product keeps bugs off my horses for about 6 hours, which is the best I've been able to do here. Nothing else keeps them away longer, and I've tried almost all products.

I have used this of 16 years. I have tried other products (including those "green" products which is like water to flies and gnats) but they don't seem to have the knock down that Repel XP does. I do make it much stronger than directed. It will usually last about 5 hours on my horses, depending on how much they sweat.

I've tried other fly sprays from time to time and I've always regretted it. Repel-X is still the best, most reliable, most cost effective product out there. And it doesn't smell nasty like some do.

Works great but I always mix it a little stronger than the recommended dosage due to amount of bugs here. If you mix it weak, it won't work.

I have been using this spray for 3 years now and I've tried everything. I prefer to buy the concentrate and mix it at the stronger concentration 1:4 and it will last several dry days and really keeps the flies off my horse, it even kills ticks. We have a huge black fly and tick problem in my area and I usually apply this 3 times a week unless we have a bad rain storm and I havent found a tick on my horse and the flies stay off him. If you are having trouble with it lasting or not being affective I would try the stronger concetration the directions are on the bottle.

I have been using this fly spray for over 20 years. If mixed properly (according to the directions) it does work. And works very well. I have used it on on both coasts, in dry desert weather, in humid gulf coast weather, you name it - we've been there! It has been very easy on the show horses' coats as well. We show H/J, dressage and 3 day horses and have a barn full that need to be kept happy. This product does that.

This product doesnt keep the flys away for more than 23 hours. Unfortunatley since I usually only see him early in the day I didnt realized this until my horse started to go bald and develop scabbs on his chest and shoulders last summer. I finally realized that it wasnt worth the bottle it comes in when at shows I would put it on just as the flies started and in a couple hours the poor guy was covered again. Instead of messing around with different fly sprays again I invested in a good fly sheet, mask and boots.

I am usually very happy with Farnum products, however RepelX falls way short! It repels flies for only a few hours before they are bothering the horses again. I would not buy this product again, nor recommend it to others.
