LOVE IT!, 2/8/2012

Katrina from Statesville, NC

I have owned aussie saddles before and I would sell my trade all my leather ones for this. With the suede I (FOR THE 1st TIME EVER) felt more secure then with any other saddle. True it is a pain to tighten the girth but so is leather aussies least the girth it came with had rollers because it would be worse. I love it, fits my horse with my thicker pad (he has REALLY high withers) and fits me perfect. Thank you so much!

Just received my saddle and used it today. Due to back surgery I can no longer lift my heavy western saddle. This is a very nice ride and I could really feel the horse.Very happy with this saddle.

almost perfect... not there yet, 4/12/2011

lcm from nashville

i really do love the look and feel of this saddle. my only negatives are this: 1) the girth is indeed hard to tighten.. i will get that altered. maybe switch it to a western rigging. 2) the fenders are very large (as with nearly all aussies) so I know next time, for close contact with my horse, i will need to eitehr get these altered, or get a custom aussie made. otherwise I really love it! suede seat makes me feel secure..along with the pollys. for the money, its really wonderful.

Not as good as i expected from other reviews, 1/20/2011

Angi from Poplarville, ms

I ordered this saddle after seeing an Aussie saddle in a tack shop and wanting one for years. I'm a little disappointed with the fit, it rubs my Arabians withers. When i called the Down Under saddle supply (who makes this saddle) they refused to fit my saddle because i had purchased it from Horse.com and not directly from them. (I would have been happy to pay shipping and a reasonable fit charge, they provide that service for their own customers why NOT horse.com customers who are, in the end their clients too.)Now I'm stuck with a saddle that needs 200. worth of accessories and still wont fit my horse.... they are happy to custom fit IF you buy from them and pay 150 more. After all their (down under saddle supply) bragging about customer service I thought it was a let down. The saddle has cheap but extremely stiff side panels that IMO make it hard to put on the horse. they get turned under and stick inside. The stirrup "leathers" are the cheapest nylon you could imagine with huge super bulky and heavy cheap metal stirrups. The girth was a size 32 which is too small for my slim built 14.2hh Arabian. I thought i had read that this saddle was supposed to weigh 20lb and it seems quite a bit heavier than that (id guess 35-40lb). I don't know over all I'm not too happy with this saddle. I'll probably call Horse.com and just see about returning it. for the extra 200 you will have to spend on upgrades to make it usable I'd have rather had the leather model but even then if it does not fit the horse.... It does not seem to fit the typical Arabian very well. The tree seems set too wide in the front.

nice saddle for price, 12/29/2010

maxine from Brighton, co

Time will tell how durable. My first aussie, I didn't realize the padding came with the saddle to gradually conform to the horses' back. Comfortable for me, my mare was happy, getting a second for my stallion. Very secure seat, the cloth on the seat itself is "sticky" like full seat breeches. Since these are green horses, I feel better. Only negative on short notice is hard to tighten cinch. an elastic on the cinch like english girths would work wonders here. Time will tell on duability. The dvd teaching about Aussie saddles was a great plus. I like the stirrup strapping, no strain on the knees. Wide foot pad, will see about adding padding for trail ride comfort.
